Prague - 50x culture events

In addition to preserving its existing cultural sights, the City of Prague also strongly invests into contemporary, living culture.

This publication describes the projects we supported in 2007. These 50 selected events are the most interesting and most noteworthy which the City of Prague supported as a partner, through grants or in another manner.

A complete overview of what is happening in arts and culture, a calendar of current and upcoming events, and information on the City of Prague’s Department of Culture, Heritage Preservation and Tourism can be found at www.praha-mesto/kultura.cz. This website also offers a listing of all contacts to department staff and to cultural facilities in Prague, including web links. Here, you may also download and print out any forms, applications and documents.

The website provides complete information on the City of Prague’s cultural subsidy policies and on the availability of other forms of support offered by the City of Prague through its elected officials – for instance, holding an event under the auspices of the City of Prague or its mayor. In the interest of transparency in approving the disbursement of financial resources on cultural projects, the website will be regularly updated to include comprehensive information on the course and outcomes of grant procedures, including photographs and audiovisual recordings. The public thus gains an overview of theatre, dance, music, fine arts and other art-related projects funded or otherwise supported by the City of Prague.

The purpose of this information is to illustrate the direction taken by Prague’s cultural politics at the beginning of the 21st century.
