Replacing the sculptures on the Old Town Bridge Tower of Charles Bridge 

Unique restoration and conservation event in November 2006

A two-treadwheel wooden medieval crane powered by men was brought to Old Town Bridge Tower in November 2006. Technology dating as long ago as 700 years helped Czech craftsmen replaces the sculptures on Old Town Bridge Tower. The very use of the crane, however, was just the last stage of the whole project on which artists, scientists and technicians has been cooperating for a long time. Together they created new sandstone sculptures for Old Town Bridge Tower, replaced the poor-quality replicas with them and thus enabled us to see the sight in its original form after a long time.
